Lazy Sunday....

I thoroughly love Sunday afternoons....after dinner naps, journal time, blog time, visiting friends and family, etc.  It helps me reflect on all my blessings for the past week.  I have several things to post about today, mainly focusing on my middle child, Kysa Christine.  As many of you are aware, we have been celebrating her 8th birthday since August because she wanted a pool party.  Her actual 8th birthday was on September 14th marking the 11th year since the passing of my dad.  We have always said that Kysa brings a special spirit into our home making a terrible day into a great day.  Grandpa Andy had a hand in sending this "spit fire" to our home.  There is never a dull moment with Kysa and she speaks her mind.  She is definitely related to her Grandpa and Uncle Phil.
All Kys wanted was a horse for her birthday (and a pool party), but we talked her out of that due to the fact that we only have a 10x10 concrete square patio behind our condo to keep her pet pony and I explained that would be mean and cruel to lock a large horse up back there.  She suggested we keep it in her room and she would clean up after it, but that quickly got vetoed and I cut a deal with her.  I said, "Let's see what Tricia is up to in a couple of weeks and see if you could ride one of hers"  My friend from Cokeville has horses and Kysa loves to pet them everytime we are in Cokeville.  We usually take Grandma Barb's scooter and buzz down to the highway to pet the horses.  She kept begging and pestering and crying until I had to give in and Tricia was more than willing to give Kysa a ride.
Her Aunt Michelle also knows how much Kysa loves horses and we all went to her house to watch Kysa ride Keno the day before the Cokeville ride.  Kys had a truly wonderful birthday this year and many thanks everyone who made her horse riding dreams come true!!  (Although she now knows she WANTS a horse!)

When you turn 8 years old, in our religion, one prepares themselves for baptism.  Kysa has prepared and has chosen to be baptized.  Her baptism was set for this past Saturday, but an unfortunate turn of events has occurred.  Our young (39 year old) Bishop passed away on Tuesday from natural causes (wasn't sure when the funeral was going to be).  We also experienced a loss of an uncle on Jared's side and his funeral was on Saturday (so we definitely moved the baptism).  Kysa was very grateful that she had already met with the Bishop and had got that time to spend with that great man.  He was adament about meeting with her, so late one Tuesday (9:30 p.m.) we met him at his office for Kysa's interview.  Our Stake only has baptisms once a month and Kysa is now looking forward to being baptized on Saturday, November 6th.  We will let all our family know a new time soon!  (Mom...you have a few more weeks to practice)

Needless to say, our church was full of tears and emotion today.  It never goes well for me when the closing hymn is "Til We Meet Again" and "Families Can Be Together Forever", but I have loved reflecting on my many blessings and know that I can find peace in my Savior and the Gospel.

I hope all our family and friends have a great week and a great October (since it takes me about a month to get things posted).....Until We Talk Again

  1. 8... I just remember those cute little girls were like 3ish when we moved to Yorkshire. How time flies. I bet today was tough in church for your ward, I would have been an absolute mess with those songs.

  2. Love this post! That is so good Royce was adamant about seeing her, that definitely shows that the spirit was prompting him to get it done soon too. I couldn't even sing those songs today I was choking up so bad. I just had to listen but it does give me comfort as well listening to them. :)

  3. That is really neat that he was able to meet with her before. Just thinking about his family breaks my heart. So sudden. I'm glad Kysa had a wonderful birthday. She looks so happy riding that horse.
